What is IHSS?
IHSS is a Medicaid-funded program that allows individuals with medical needs to receive care at home rather than in an institutional setting. Through IHSS, a family member or friend can be compensated for providing care, ensuring both quality care and financial support.
IHSS services include:
Personal Care Assistance
Help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
Homemaker Services

How do I qualify for IHSS?
As of July 1, IHSS is a benefit of Colorado Community First Choice (CFC) a Medicaid State Plan benefit designed to give more people the support they need to remain safe, independent, and cared for in their own homes.
In addition, IHSS is a benefit of these three waivers:
- Children’s Home and Community-Based Services (CHCBS) Waiver
- Complementary and Integrative Health (CIH) Waiver
- Elderly, Blind, and Disabled (EBD) Waiver
